UNTIED SHOOT

Streetwear

This two-week-long photoshoot, featuring 11 meticulously styled outfits, marked a significant milestone for me as my first foray into clothing photography. Having previously focused on food photography, this project was both an exciting challenge and an opportunity to expand my creative scope. The purpose of the shoot was to generate content for Untied's website, elevating their brand presence by showcasing their clothing in a fresh, impactful way.

Untied’s vision centers around promoting elevated streetwear, with a primary focus on shoes. However, their clothing line had not yet been given the spotlight it deserved. I worked closely with the team to launch a new concept for how they wanted to present their apparel moving forward. By selecting locations in West Hollywood that harmonized with the colors and style of the pieces, I ensured each look shone in its unique way. Natural lighting was prioritized where possible, and in other cases, my Adobe Photoshop expertise played a vital role in achieving the polished, professional results they sought.

Overview

  • The shoot took place on the streets of West Hollywood, an area full of character and culture. Working with this urban backdrop, I had to think creatively to integrate the surroundings into the imagery while keeping the focus on the clothing.

  • Ricky brought the vision to life by embodying his LA roots. We curated a relaxed, confident energy on set by playing West Coast music, which helped him connect with the vibe Untied aimed to convey through their brand and with himself.

  • The shoot was captured using a Sony A7S III paired with a Sony FE 24-105mm f/4 G OSS lens. This versatile setup allowed me to experiment with various angles and perspectives, capturing the essence of elevated streetwear.

  • This project challenged me to go beyond my usual creative process, requiring me to use every tool at my disposal to bring Untied’s vision to life. Post-production was a key part of achieving the final polished look. I utilized Adobe Lightroom for precise color grading, ensuring the tones complemented the clothing and matched the brand’s elevated streetwear aesthetic. Lightroom allowed me to fine-tune exposure, highlights, and shadows, creating a consistent mood across the entire series.

In Adobe Photoshop, I focused on refining and enhancing details that couldn’t be achieved on location. I adjusted lighting, balanced contrasts, and removed any distractions from the background to keep the focus on the clothing. Advanced retouching techniques were applied to ensure the textures and colors of the fabric were represented authentically and vibrantly.

This level of post-production work not only overcame the challenges of shooting in urban environments but also elevated the overall quality of the images, creating a standard that will shape how Untied presents their clothing line moving forward. This project was a powerful learning experience, solidifying my ability to combine on-location creativity with technical post-production expertise.
